With bike theft generally on the increase, the Spalding Building in Portland, Oregon has come up with a very safe and ultimately very cool idea for bike storage.
Tenants that rent office space in the 12-story building can lock-up their push-bikes in one of the two old bank vaults re-converted into bike storage racks, in the part of the building that used to be a bank. The 16,000 lb doors don’t actually lock but the bikes can be pad-locked to the wall racks making them very secure.
