Self Storage enters popular culture

November 22, 2010

Has anyone read the book ‘Self Storage’ by Gayle Brandeis?

Self Storage is about a fictitious woman called Fran Parker who has a thriving retail business based on buying treasures from long-abandoned storage units. One day she finds a note in amongst the boxes which send her on a life-changing journey.

This isn’t the first time that someone has written a book about self-storage. Back in 1997, Mary Helen Stefaniak released ‘Self Storage and other stories.’

There’s also the recent movie called ‘Self Storage’ about character Les Bundles, the mild-mannered, middle-aged, son of a Texas ‘Self-Storage Baron’ who is sent to California, where, to win his mother’s respect, he’ll fight to free their flagship self-storage facility from a gang of anarchist freeloaders

Has self-storage entered into popular culture?

Please let me know if you’ve read either of these books or if you have seen the movie Self Storage.
