Storage under the stairs

July 25, 2011

Wasted storage space in the family home can be easy to find, but which has the most potential? The attic or loft springs to mind, or maybe even the garage or garden shed.

But how about under the stairs?

The overused, but usually neglected ‘cupboard under the stairs’ is more often than not, the home of piles of shoes, trainers, and wellington boots. Throw a hoover and mop into the mix, a pair of roller skates, and maybe even an ironing board, and you have the contents of ‘most’ under the stairs cupboards in ‘most’ houses.

But you could make more of this potential gold mine of space by organising it slightly differently (maybe de-cluttering?), introducing shelving or racking, lighting, and some cheap small storage boxes. We found these beautiful made to measure solutions on the web that provide a good looking, and practical solution to household storage.
